Frequently asked questions
Personal training FAQs: useful things to know.
Have a question about personal training in Heswall? From your first session to prices, qualifications and where we can train, here are the practical details in one place.
What is Jacqui Miller Fitness?+
Jacqui Miller Fitness offers private, one-to-one personal training in Heswall, Wirral. Sessions are led by Jacqui, a UK Level 3 personal trainer who also holds US certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
What happens before I start training?+
Start in whatever way feels easiest: message, text or call. Jacqui will ask about your goals, experience, concerns and any relevant injuries or limitations. Meeting over coffee or tea is optional; you can also allow extra time for conversation at your first appointment.
What happens in the first session?+
Your first appointment is about 15 minutes longer than a normal session. After talking through your questionnaire, Jacqui will guide you through a brief series of accessible movements. This helps her see what you already do well, where your body compensates and which areas may need more support. You will still move and train—it is not an hour of tests.
What is Jacqui’s training approach?+
Training is personal, practical and explained as you go. Jacqui combines movements you already feel confident doing with areas that need attention. Sessions often flow from one part of the body to another rather than relying on repeated heavy efforts and long waits. You will also learn how to adapt useful movements for home, a gym, travel or the equipment available.
Who is personal training for?+
Training can help if you want to feel fitter or stronger, move more comfortably, improve balance or become more confident exercising. Jacqui starts with your current ability and experience rather than expecting a particular level of fitness.
Where do sessions take place?+
Sessions can take place in a private one-to-one training space or, where suitable, at a client’s home, residential gym, park or another agreed location. Ask about your preferred location when you get in touch.
How much do sessions cost?+
A studio session is £43 for one hour, or £228 for six one-hour sessions (£38 each), used within two months. Outdoor group training in Heswall parks is £15 per person per session, subject to availability. Home gym sessions are £53 for one hour in Heswall; ask about prices for locations farther away. Do I have to buy a package?+
No. You can book a single one-hour session for £43. The six-session package is available if you would like more continuity and a lower price per session.
Are gift cards available?+
Yes. Digital gift cards can be sent by email to the purchaser or recipient and used towards one-to-one training in Heswall. Contact Jacqui to discuss the amount and delivery date.
How long is a session?+
A normal one-to-one session lasts one hour. Your first appointment is approximately 15 minutes longer so there is time to discuss your goals and complete a movement assessment.
Do I need to be fit before I start?+
No. Jacqui starts with what you can do now. Her clients have ranged from people learning the foundations of lifting to people working on balance, mobility, strength or everyday confidence. Everybody can move, and everybody can do something; the programme builds from there.
What if I feel nervous or self-conscious?+
That is completely understandable. Jacqui will not hand you a weight the moment you arrive. You will have time to get comfortable with her and the space, talk through your concerns and begin with movements you can manage. The setting is private, so there is no busy gym floor or audience.
What if I have an old injury or an area that feels weak?+
Tell Jacqui about it before you begin. She can help you explore safe, gradual ways to strengthen around a weakness and will adapt or stop a movement when needed. Personal training is not a substitute for medical assessment or physiotherapy, so she may recommend seeking appropriate clinical advice before continuing.
How do I know the difference between effort and pain?+
Muscles can feel tired or sore when they work, but sharp, worsening or unusual pain is a reason to stop. One benefit of one-to-one coaching is that Jacqui can watch your movement and expression, ask how something feels and adapt in real time. You should never feel pressured to push through pain.
Can I train at home or outdoors?+
Yes. Home gym sessions are £53 for one hour in Heswall; ask for a price if you live farther away. Outdoor group training takes place in parks in Heswall at £15 per person per session, subject to availability. Contact Jacqui to discuss your space and equipment, or ask about upcoming outdoor sessions.
Will I learn exercises I can do on my own?+
Yes. Jacqui teaches the purpose and principles behind each movement so you can adapt it for your own space, equipment and schedule. Depending on your goals, she may suggest useful movements or activities to practise between sessions.
Can I choose the music?+
Yes. Because sessions are one-to-one in a private setting, you and Jacqui can choose music that helps you move—or you can bring your own playlist.
Do I have to meet for coffee or tea?+
No. Coffee or tea is simply an optional, informal way to talk before you commit. You can start by message or phone, meet somewhere suitable, or arrive early for your first appointment.
Is Jacqui insured?+
Yes. Jacqui Miller Fitness is insured through Insure4Sport, with Jacqui Miller named as the policyholder and coach. Please ask Jacqui if you would like more information about the cover.
